The Campaign

Using iconic Mt.Fuji as backdrop, SkyMagic held their first live performance. Through this video, we showcased the contrast of traditional and new age technology. Comparing Mt. Fuji with the drone formations of an inverted triangle, the blaze from the torch with LED lights, the Shamisens tunes(Japanese traditional guitars) and Minimalistic music. Also, the positioning of the Shamisen players facing the drones to portray communication with one another, human to machine, to signify the importance of coexistence between humans and technology. The audio visual extravaganza was provided by 25 quadcopters, equipped with over 16,500 LED lights. The quadcopters, LED lights, and flight swarming formations, were all automatically and simultaneously controlled by a single pilot using the digital control DMX512, accompanied by melody from the Shamisens.

Creative Execution

We launched SkyMagic by MicroAd Magic on the 20th April 2016 to the public, an audiovisual entertainment service that provides an aerial sensory experience at a press conference held in Maihama theatre, Japan. At the same time, we launch SkyMagic’s website and video (Mt. Fuji) on various platforms, vimeo, youtube, facebook, twitter and instagram. We are scheduled to officially provide the service worldwide by 2017.

Our video (Sky Magic Live at Mt.Fuji) attained more than 2 million video views and got published in more than 300 media sites, notably on The Wall Street Journal, The Verge, Yahoo! Tech, Yahoo! News, CNet, and Mashable, with over 20,000 shares. We have numerous inquiries from various countries, a bulk of them from the States, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, China, India, Japan, Philippines, and Malaysia. Currently, we are collaborating with companies to provide this service worldwide by 2017, focusing and prioritising on events that benefits in the social and economical aspects.

Technology has been drastically evolving throughout the years and with the over-saturation of the smartphone apps industry, this generation of technology was about to stagnate. Technology has become so integrated in our lives that we are reliant on it 24/7. We can purchase any item and get it delivered to our doorstep at the touch of a button. This has been ongoing for years, but in the world of technology, it is equivalent to donkey years. It was time that something revolutionary is to be done. To challenge this constant change, MicroAd has introduced “Sky Magic”, a next generation entertainment using flying machines providing an audio visual performance on an aerial display platform. We chose the Sky to be the stage as we believe it is the few remaining frontiers in the new cyber space.
