Scoop to Kill The Abate sand sculpture installation was created to encourage people to scoop the sand and use it to eliminate mosquito larvaes before they grow up and become a threat to people. With the colllaboration from various parties, Abate sand has been dispatched though out all 77 provinces in Thailand.
Large amounts of sand are continuously being distributed nationwide. Patients with Dengue have decreased 18% from the previous year.
Scoop to Kill is a campaign of sand sculptures installations made of a special sand called the Abate sand. Through these sculptures, we communicate to Thai people and educate them the fact that mosquito population is a serious issue, which is directly linked to the spread of Dengue fever in Thailand. Furthermore, this campaign encouraged people to scoop some sands from the sculptures to use at their home areas. We received tremendous participation from active citizens and the campaign turned out to be a success.
We strongly believe that strategy is a crucial factor to the success of this campaign. That is why we cooperated with professional sculptors to make beautiful sand sculptures. With the art of sculpting involved in the process, we can grab more attention from the public and increase the impact on the elimination of mosquito larvae. Furthermore, in order to reach out to even more people, and to maximize results from citizens, we decided to install our sand sculptures at the landmark of each and every province in Thailand such as at a famous public park.
