The Campaign

The Annual containing the excellent pieces that received won the CCN Award 2016 adopts a graphic motif combining a spotlight and pencil, expressing the desire to shine light on the award recipients and their work. The pencil symbolizes the copywriter, and the spotlight represents the honor extolling the achievements of the award recipients. In the cover graphic, by superimposing the spotlights onto the text of award-receiving work, we have produced an Annual that spotlights the award recipients and their works. By turning the spotlight onto the award recipients, we intend to help copywriters reaffirm the importance of the job they do and imbue them with confidence and pride.

Creative Execution

We adopted a radiant motif that celebrates award recipients by combining a pencil symbolizing the copywriter and a spotlight extolling the achievements of award recipients. The three sheets of the cover graphic also resemble separate spotlights and pencils drawing lines, expressing what only an award for copywriters could. The clear material of the cover features spotlights superimposed onto award-winning works, which is accomplished by using translucent inks.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

Award recipients who have obtained this Annual spotlighting creators have noted that it has given them renewed pride in their work and boosted motivation in their day-to-day efforts, voicing acclaim that evidences a change in awareness. Other copywriters who have perused the Annual and seen the award recipients experience greater motivation that makes them want to earn the award themselves the following year. Thanks to this, the number of people who have purchased the Annual is also up from last year.

Copywriters Club Nagoya, whose name recognition is low among the 13 Copywriters Clubs in Japan, has little opportunity to shine the spotlight onto copywriters, and produces an Annual to transform itself from a copywriter organization in which young copywriters are losing a sense of pride in their work into one that extols copywriters more than any other in Japan. By executing a transparent-spotlight design for the cover, we adopted an arrangement that highlights not just works, but award recipients as well.
