The film opens on retired Naval officers and war veterans of the historic 1971 Indo-Pak war, narrating erstwhile untold stories of pride and valour during their time on India’s first aircraft carrier- the legendary INS Vikrant. These brave sons take the viewers through a journey right from the genesis, to the war and finally to the unfortunate scrapping of this iconic war-hero.
Through this video we wanted to reveal the many untold stories of India’s first aircraft carrier and hero of the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war – the INS Vikrant. We were tempted to use actors to bring out these rich stories, but we decided against it. Because who better to narrate these stories than the war veterans themselves. So we went all over the country looking for decorated ex-naval officers who served aboard the legendary ship to open up about their glorious war stories. This included ace navy pilots, commanders of the ship and even the ex-chief of the naval staff. Their powerful and emotional stories came out beautifully when narrated in their own words. Their passion and attachment to the ship reflected in their expressions and body language and served well to tell the story in an effective and impactful manner.
