For the first time in AAMI's history, the recognisable 'AAMI girl' and her colleagues come out from behind their desks to star in our campaign, demonstrating exactly why AAMI is not your average insurance company. From roadside assistance to income and business protection, from travel insurance to innovative apps that let you capture and lodge your insurance claim, The AAMI's are always on hand to come to the rescue in sticky situations. Set to 'Danke Schoen', the song first made famous by Wayne Newton in 1963, the humorous scenarios remind you each time and again of why it's 'Lucky you're with AAMI'.
From hundreds of 'AAMI girls' needing to be styled to llamas and ostriches needed to be wrangled, 'Ride of the AAMIs' was one of Australia's biggest productions of the year. A futuristic command and control centre was built inside an old sports gym, the place where the AAMI girls conduct their rescue missions from. The ticker board was actually custom made to add to the realistic feel. The Tornado scene was filmed using an actual helicopter, not a drone, as we needed strong winds to simulate a real twister. All the stunts were done by the actors themselves and not doubles, including the 'falling off the roof' scene and coordinated by our stunt and VFX coordinators. All and all, a great story well told and a lot of fun to make.
