This commercial shows two Deaf friends, in a tearful reunion, retelling old stories, before pulling away to reveal that they are communicating through sign language via the Internet.
This was a casting process like no other. In partnership with the Australian Deaf community, we put a call-out on social media, receiving an astounding response. We then enlisted the help of a specialist interpreter with experience in acting and performance, to interview countless talent all over Australia in search of 2 unique women perfect for our commercial. After weeks of castings, video calls, and improvised ‘reunion’ session, 2 women were selected for the spot – Danni and Kate, two real-life friends that were both Deaf. The two women were a perfect fit for the ad as we watch them reunite, and connect like never before, over a video call made possible by the nbn™ network.
