Brief Explanation

"An Old Friend" follows a day in the life of a lonely grandfather vis-a-vis the busy life of his granddaughter, who is shown through snippets of her social feeds. As the grandfather painstakingly prepares his breakfast for one, the granddaughter posts about breakfast with her BFFs. As he gets dressed from his monotone closet, she posts about her rainbow wardrobe. The story follows their days, showing the grandfather going for a walk, sitting on a bench, watching time slowly tick on, while the granddaughter posts about not wanting her day to end. The film closes with the grandfather smiling at the sound of a doorbell, overlaid with a post from his granddaughter about visiting an old friend. Stemming from the insight that as our lives get busier, we lose touch with our grandparents, the film urges viewers to visit or call their grandparents, because all they want is your time.
