The Campaign

Beatboxing is all about spontaneity, improvisation and youthful vibrant energy. Keeping that in mind, when we were tasked with creating the Brand Expression, Visual Identity and communication material for this event, we tried to capture & visualise the spontaneous free flow of beats improvised during beatbox battles; An iconic visual language that is cryptic yet reminiscent of street art culture, making it appeal to the youth.

Creative Execution

To create the identity for this groundbreaking event we developed a visual language based around 16 symbols which represent the core elements at the heart and soul of beatboxing, aptly named, ‘SPITS’. To visualize the head to head to collisions, a generative system was created called ‘The COLLIDER’ which uses sounds from the battles to create unique visual compositions through the ‘SPITS’ from two opposing heads, showing two unique sides to each battle. We utilized this to create 16 posters for the 16 participants. The Spits were also animated and used throughout the event for all audio-visual and communication materials.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

An underground movement was brought to the spotlight through the communication materials around the country both online and offline, receiving mainstream coverage and massive shoutouts from renowned beatboxers around the globe. The event helped to create a greater following for Beatbox Bangladesh attracting many new youngsters, paving the way for future generations of beatboxers to flourish.
