The target for this project were all of Japan’s Internet users. Stemmed from the concept that the Internet is a grand piece of art created by mankind, 1,478 remarkable events from 1969 to 2018 were designed in 3D models to create a “3D Sculpture Tower” in the form of a website.
The statue was designed keeping in mind the constraints of 3D models able to be supported on a website. As a result, a fresh look was designed using low-polygon models. The neutral texture selected creates a natural feel, but the website itself is filled with so much content that it walks on the absolute limit of a website, therefore creating a new experience rich website that is not usually seen in websites using 3D models. Users can climb up and down the tower and spin it around, allowing all 360 degrees to be viewed. Each model can be clicked on to show details of that event as well as shared on social media. The logo was designed using ancient pillars as a motif.
The website recorded 930,000 page views and gained huge public attention. Users are able to search for services they’ve used or worked on in the past.
