Baidu created glasses for Alzheimer's patients to help them recognize family members, pets and the people that matter most in their lives. The AI glasses use face and speaker recognition technology to identify face and speech miometrics. The precision rate of face recognition is 99.77%.
The first prototype was ready in April 2017and was live-trialled with real Alzheimers' patients. Till date, the system has a precision rate of 99.7%. It is still being constantly improved by the engineers at Baidu. However, our early successes earned the AI Glasses a recommendation by Alzheimer’s Disease China for use by Chinese patients. The eventual aim is for the AI Glasses to be used at the early stage of Alzheimer's to slow the degenerative effects of the disease. By lowering the cost of production, we hope the AI Glasses can be adopted by medical practitioners and the public at large as an affordable solution till breakthroughs are made to reverse the symptoms of Alzheimer's.
The product was tested and re-tested to groups of users for a period of 3 months. The tests were supervised by Alzheimer's Disease China, the umbrella body for medical practitioners and patients of Alzheimer's in China.
The AI Glasses use face and speaker recognition technology to identify faces and speech biometrics. It uses Baidu' s deep learning network to constantly detact and identify faces. The deep leaning techniques involves using larger neutral networks than before ,arranged in hierarchical layers ,and training them with significantly large collection of data (photo,text and speech). The result is a system that constantly learns and relearns face and speaker patterns and keep a deep database of the information to provide its wearers a precise and accurate identification.
