What if sanitation workers could be “disguised” as speed radar so that they could “tip off” radar detectors to force speeding drivers to slow down? With this insight in mind, we created the Life Guard badge.

Creative Execution

The Life Guard badge features: Layer of radiation-proof material VO: a radiation-proof layer to ensure safety Long-lasting lightweight battery VO: a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 4 hours Microwave radar transmitter / K band, 24.150 GHZ VO: a microwave radar transmitter recognized by most radar detectors Waveguide VO: and a 60-degree waveguide to boost the signal to an extensive 50-meter coverage All-weather design VO: It also features an all-weather design to work 24/7, including on rainy days When a sanitation worker is equipped with the Life Guard badge, he or she has been perfectly disguised as speed radar. The badge transmits on the same wave band as speed radar does. Passing drivers will receive voice alert from their radar detector as they usually do. Without additional modification to the existing radar detectors on the road, we have effectively improved the workplace safety for sanitation workers.

The Life Guard badge takes care of those who take care of our city. Moreover, it can also protect other vulnerable pedestrians such as children and elderly. Young school children can wear them on school bags, so that drivers can be more aware of School Zone speed limits, one badge can protect a whole group of childrem. In a word, this easy-to-use device is a lifesaver. We are currently in talks with potential clients who are willing to buy the badges for their CSR campaigns.

However this basic technology has uses that can do far more benefits on the road too. Having the insight of saving lives from traffic accidents, our IoT team applied existing technologies to a brand new solution.
