Paul is on a trip to Japan and is surprised to see that the blooming of cherry blossoms is announced on the weather forecast. His friend Emi explains that the time of the bloom is very short and therefore people are very particular about not missing it. She proceeds to explain the history of Japanese flower viewing and the role it plays in Japanese culture today. Paul is exited and wants to try Hanami himself. They take a bento (boxed meal) with them to the park and enjoy the cherry blossoms, making sure not to bother people with noise, climb or break the trees or behave badly otherwise. Having had a great time at Hanami, Paul now follows the quickly blooming cherry blossoms up north to enjoy more of them.
