Every year hundreds of writers and thousands of visitors attend the Melbourne Writers Festival. The festival has grown year on year, but it still struggles to shake off its stereotypically literary image of being stuffy and academic. ‘Writer’s Block’ was written with two aims, to bring to life this year’s theme of ‘Stories From Every Angle’, but more importantly to make the festival appear contemporary and relevant to abroader, younger audience. Created on a shoe-string budget and played in cinemas throughout Melbourne, the film explores the musings of a writer’s inner voice as he debates potential beginnings to his story.
