Brief Explanation

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million individuals and more than 2,000 businesses turned their lights off for one hour to take a stand against climate change. For Earth Hour 2011, @radical.media Sydney in conjunction with Leo Burnett Chicago shot a TV commercial which encouraged people to go "Beyond the Hour" by doing something extra in their day to day life to reduce CO2 emissions further such as ride a bike to work rather than driving. The result was that the ad ran in 135 countries and hundreds of millions of people in 5,251 cities and towns participated. In addition over 700,000 people watched the ad on YouTube.
