The Johnny Cash Project is a global collective public art project. Cash died in 2003. This living, web-based memorial to Cash and his music evolves and changes as new visitors contribute art; a crowd-sourced animated music video from individual portraits - with a level of craft previously unobtainable from user-generated material. Registered visitors sketch frames using a custom drawing tool, palate and select archival footage. Participants share their vision of the Man in Black. These unique and personal portraits generate a film for the track "Ain't No Grave [can hold this body down]" recorded before Cash's death, and released this year.
