"DARE" tells a timeless story of the 84 Olympic Games when China sent a National team to the Olympics for the first time. World Record holder in the high jump, Zhu JianHua was faced with the difficult decision to sacrifice silver in order to go for gold. Defeat is a controversial subject at a time when everyone else is talking victory. Even today, the fear of failure is still a huge hurdle for participation in sport in China. DARE documentary challenge this by showing athletes who could talk about defeat and reveal their emotions. It unfolded in a time when many of today's young generation were not yet born.
