Our assignment was to compose the original Christmas song that not only praise the holiday spirit but also show appreciation to everyday people who work hard for themselves, their families and for loved one. in this families case in the film, we wanted to show that everyone of them could be the Santa for each family members to bring them joy and happiness.
we had our first meeting with creatives and director in beginning of October 2017. they have shared with us the backstories and how spot will look like which they ware about to film soon. after the meeting we have started our demos right away and presented the rough version of the song with in the week along with the choice for singers. we started working with a selected singer on english lyrics and ware simultaneously working with musicians and children choir. we delivered the final package on Oct 27 2017.
within the first two weeks after the spot was published on youtube, it was played more than 500,000 times and currently has more than 2,000,000 views. it was featured in some online portals such as adsoftheworld.com, adgang.jp. nominated Branded Shorts 2018 shortlisted on "SSFF&Asia"
We had pleasure working with great creative team for such a beautiful spot. we created the original Christmas song for not only praise the holiday spirit but also show our appreciation for people we love. we had great time working with some of our favorite singers and musicians and very proud of what we have created.
we wanted the song to sound modern but also timeless. we did not want full on holiday vibes in the sound so decided to work on the pop song formula with a hint of christmassy elements here and there. Although, the story is about the modern Japanese family we felt it will work better if we write lyric in English to have more universal feeling. So we decided to work with singer who speaks both languages who would be able to deliver the back story of modern working style of younger Japanese family in this film.
