This is the true story of Hernando, a despised and feared street thug who lives by himself in a Philippines slum. One fateful day, he discovers that the people living next door have abandoned their baby. His initial reaction is to try and give the baby away, not wanting anything to do with him. But then he softens, perhaps seeing something of himself in the baby, and eventually decides to care for him. Their relationship grows, and we begin to see a change in Hernando himself. The true hurdle comes when he is visited by social workers who question his ability to raise baby Race. It is then that we discover his total turnaround, and see that he is now working a proper job, and wanting to be a real father to baby Race. In a way, they have saved each other.
