Taking place in ancient China, a demanding princess is looking for a messenger bird (a customary mode of communication in that period). A resourceful trader tries his utmost to meet her expectations. The basic package, customised package, unexpected package… the trader doesn’t give up. He never gives up. Likewise, Singtel stops at nothing to bring the best solutions to each and every customer.
Everything on the set, from costumes, to set design, to birds were researched to be era accurate. However, the production design also had to showcase the idea of innovation. Hence, the team produced the wooden droid which is similar to current droid in the store as well as the mechatronic bird, which turn out to be a wonderful visual device. Being a natural bird lover, the set also had to have intricate details to show its the natural choice in the land for a princess to be a customer. Everything from the pillars, the wooden ceiling dividers and the ceiling had intricate bird carvings. The production designer also had to make sure the set met the director’s two key requirements. A place of premier innovation that could carry the film through both day and night settings as well as having a resemblance to the modern day Singtel store.
