The Campaign

Mobil 1's web video “You are the 1.” features the well-known Japanese dancer and actor Mirai Moriyama expressing Mobil 1’s message of “Reach No.1 in your own way, by taking your own path” through a one-of-a-kind dance performance. Embodying a race car uncompromisingly making its way toward the finish line, Mirai uses his whole body to express the brand’s message, fearlessly performing on an actual race circuit as race cars zoom past him at dangerously close range.

Creative Execution

To maximize the output of the strategy, we chose to cast a well-known Japanese actor that did not rest on his laurels after gaining fame, but instead chose to go his own path as a singular artist of all expression. In the video, we had the actor “race” two speeding race cars on the circuit, the traditional image associated with Mobil 1, and had him express his own path to reaching the goal and becoming No.1.
