The protagonist Sarah loves Cupramen and after adding hot water to her cup, she has 3 minutes until her food is done. Using this time, she is wondering where cupramen are originally from and how they were created. Why are they loved all around the world? Her friend and gourmet Toku tells her all about it in the story of the video. He explains that they were originally created in Japan by a man named Momofuku Ando and how he managed to make Cupramen a huge hit all over the world, with many new flavors developing. The accuracy of the content is warranted through support from Cupramen producers NISSIN FOODS HOLDINGS CO., LTD. as well as organizations such as World Instant Noodles Association and Japan Convenience Foods Industry Association.
The brief called for a video that would explain Cupramen, during the amount of time that real Cupramen need to be ready to eat. This proved to be quite a task for the editor. If it is a mere 3 minute video, it doesn’t fully embody the feeling of waiting for the noodles to be ready to eat. Therefore, the video starts with a scene of actually pouring hot water into the container. But the work goes back in time to the origins of Cupramen, so instead of using real footage, we chose to work with illustrations to explain the history. The video is filmed with actual printed paper being moved by the handmodel, adding and removing illustrations according to the narration. And at the end of the story, the handmodel grabs the container and eats Cupramen.
