English Translation of Main Headlines

My name is “Builds houses, and thus the near future.” It’s a pleasure to meet you. Those are words, you may say. They’re not a person’s name. But I embody the spirit of building houses and thus the near future, as well as the hopes of all our employees, so I don’t want to be treated as just the company slogan. Excuse me for being selfish. And I appreciate your not caring either way. I was born this year. My father once heard a child say, “I feel out of place when I’m at home. So I’ll stay out playing until late at night.” So he thought, “I should make a place for them to be.” He’s a sincere man who created Mizette house, the forerunner of the current industrialized housing in Japan. That was about 60 years ago. My father started Daiwa House. He thought about what he could do for society through housing and kept going. That’s why I have the word “house” in my name. And you may think, then “Builds houses” is a good name, right? But he really wanted to add the words “and thus the near future.” My father had the idea that running a business meant you first had to think about what the world needs, and he had a habit of saying, “Think further ahead.” What we build is not houses themselves, but the lives that will be created there, he thought. That’s why I became “Builds houses, and thus the near future.” The choice of “near future” instead of “future” also has significance. As we give form to the near future slightly ahead of us, piece by piece, they come together to bring the greater future closer to us. That’s why I’m building “the near future.” I was just recently born, but I give the people of Daiwa House, who are my family, advice on what they should do, awareness, and encouragement. Already many Daiwa House employees are working together to: Build houses, and thus the near future of cities. Build houses, and thus the near future of regional environments. Build houses, and thus the near future of the aging society. Build houses, and thus the near future of children. These projects are all happening at once. And they’re sure to keep growing. If you’d like to see the specifics, please keep an eye on our future efforts. I’m “Builds houses, and thus the near future.” Daiwa House, please be good to me. Builds houses, and thus the near future. Daiwa House
