Fully synchronized live music showcase between the U.S. and Japan. From a distance of 6,543 miles, dancers, singers, a Japanese idol group and other artists representing the music scene in Japan were piped into the stage in Austin as DJ starRo mesmerized his audience in a perfect 'teleportation' like synchronicity through a live music showcase that linked Tokyo, Japan to Austin in the U.S. Featured artists: In Austin starRo: 2017 Grammy Award nominated music producer In Tokyo AyaBambi: Female Dance Duo AyaBambi that made a performance at the Rio Olympics Mukai Taichi: Japanese Pop Singer Cheeky Parade: Japanese Idol Group Ryofu: Japanese Rapper
Spatial layout of 9 transparent screens, including 1 double-sided screen, to create an engaging and immersive experience made possible through a powerful communication infrastructure. Ultra low latency multimedia synchronized transmission technology over high-speed networks Transfer distance 6,543 miles Zero packet loss 2K x 5 feeds (during the event) 4K x 13 feeds (tested on maximum transfer size on previous trials) Next generation real-time image extraction technology from any background Without using conventional green screen technology, our technology conducted human shape extractions of the artists in Tokyo from a background of choice, under various stage lighting conditions, then transmitted these isolated images. World debut of a double-sided transparent screen projection to display human form image extractions (double-sided screen provided by Polid Screen)
The showcase received instant success and venue was immediately packed with people. Our ultra low latency technology succeeded to make data transfer with zero packet losses, bringing high praise through SNS as the 'best live performance at SXSW'. After the performance, DJ starRo and experts at Internet2, a computer networking consortium which provided the high-speed network in the U.S., responded with a big thumbs up at the quality of the technology.
Our entry into the MUSIC originated from the nature of the event being a live music showcase. The event, where many music industry professionals showed a tremendous interest in attending, gave insight into a future possibility in a fully synchronized immersive experience tying two distant locations around the world.
NTT carried out a live music showcase at SXSW, an event in Austin catered to the most recent music/interactive technology. The showcase was a fully synchronized live music showcase closing the gap between artists that were performing from long distances away. On stage in Austin, we welcomed the Grammy Award nominee DJ starRo to mesmerize his audience as artists representing the music scene in Japan (AyaBambi, Taichi Mukai, Cheeky Parade, Ryofu) were piped into the stage from Tokyo through a live 'teleportation' like synchronicity. Guests were able to experience a fully synchronized live music performance in a three dimensional layout of spatial immersive telepresence. Through this live experience made available to music and entertainment industry professionals, we were able to effectively project the future possibilities of music live entertainment.
