Creative Execution

We made a film that Japanese table tennis players rally by using “table tennis musical instrument”, making the arena resonant with the song by the famous Japanese DJ, DAISHI DANCE. We released this film on TVCF, Web movie, and the website of World Table Tennis Championships.

As soon as the TV commercial went on air, thousands of responses flooded in from Japanese viewers not only table tennis players who said they have been waiting for this, but also the general public that now see this sport differently, looking forward to the next championship. Having covered in 100+ online news stories and blogs, As a result, audience rate about world table tennis championship increased by 1.2 times. he project lead table tennis to be seen in a new light.

The project used projection mapping with sampling pads placed on a table. A passive infrared sensor detected the exact location of a flying table tennis ball, and judges the moment the ball hits the table - producing the sound programmed in the system. The athletes precisely recreated the music score by controlling the speed of their rally and the position they hit, making the arena resonant with the song In Japan, table tennis rarely attracts attention from people, especially the young. To wipe out this bad image that they have, We need to create a technology that overwhelm them.
