“Explorer” is the first film ever created to promote the University of Tokyo internationally and attract students from around the world. Inspired by the story of Naoko Yamazaki, the second Japanese woman to go into space, and a graduate of the University of Tokyo, the “Explorer” film takes us on a journey from the moment she entered the University until she landed back on earth. Through her memories, she shares what she has learned and experienced and the discoveries she has made on this voyage of a lifetime. Dressed in an exact replica of the spacesuit actually worn, we see her walking through the three campuses of University of Tokyo along with an assortment of classic Tokyo city sceneries. The cast was almost entirely made up of University of Tokyo students and alumni.
