E-commerce, as a communication space, has always been a feature-driven battle. Consumers look at portals that can offer them ‘better, faster, more’ and there are few brand loyalists. Which is why EBay wanted to catch their customers at a deeper, more innate level through their global proposition: ‘Find your World’- offering the most unique range of products that help build one’s passions and personality, the way they love. Inspired by other brands with divergent propositions (ex- Johnny Walker’s ‘Keep Walking’), we decided to story-tell the idea behind ‘Find your world’ through an heart-warming, implicit tale. We crafted the story of Shanky: an amnesiac who takes a leap of faith and begins life on a blank slate instead of going back and recreating his past. In his ambitious pursuit to build new interests and passions, he turns to EBay and creates ‘The Discover Project’: a promise to try out something new, every day. Through the film, the viewer travels with Shanky in his journey through trial, error, success and soul-searching. And by the end, Shanky does, in his own way, ‘find his world’ through EBay.
