Brief Explanation

The film profiles The Wall Street Journal's China edition editor-in-chief, Li Yuan. She looks over a painting of a Chinese girl at a gallery and recalls her childhood inspiration story of reading about an Italian journalist, Oriana Fallaci interviewing the then leader of China, Deng Xiao Ping. She remembers how greatly inspired by that story she was and wanted to become a journalist, too. The scene cuts to her life today working at The Wall Street Journal, she speaks about the Journal's core values and its inquisitive spirit of reporting. She is seated facing an influential leader, but she is not afraid to ask tough questions, go deeper into the stories to present all angles. The scene then cuts to the top of a building where Li Yuan is standing tall, overlooking the breathtaking view of Hong Kong. The camera closes in to her peerless eyes, and her voice firmly says the words "Be Bold. Be Fearless." The scene fades. The Wall Street Journal logo appears. "Be a reader. Be in the lead" come on screen in sync with background music.
