In 2012, Visual Jazz and Australia’s biggest music retailer JB Hi-Fi joined forces to build and launch Australia’s first digital music streaming service, JB Hi-Fi NOW. The new platform is a world-first music discovery engine that features innovative functionality, world class user experience and sophisticated design to bring Australians unlimited music like never before. More recently the JB Hi-Fi NOW service was extended into mobile application development, allowing users to take millions of songs with them, wherever they go. Competing in a market landscape that includes Itunes, Spotify and Grooveshark, we needed to develop an innovative mobile application that would take the JB Hi-Fi NOW streaming service to users when and wherever they were. While our target audience was tech savvy 14-34 year old Australians, the potential for broader reach was great. We needed to create an industry-leading mobile application with unique design and innovative user experience to draw consumers away from their traditional mobile music listening options such as iPods and other portable mp3 devices. The design of the JB Hi-Fi mobile application provides consumers with a slick, clean and cool user interface that captures the best elements of the JB Hi-Fi NOW online experience. The application allows users to access millions of audio tracks, artist bios and images, as well as album cover art, all displayed in a compact, digestible and slick design. With the JB Hi-Fi NOW mobile application you can: • Discover millions of songs on the go • Find over 100,000 artists, sorted by genres and sub genres • Create playlists and listen anywhere, anytime • Store music in your phone’s memory to use when offline • Instantly access the JB charts, newest music and saved mixtapes The JB Hi-Fi NOW mobile application allows you to experience unlimited music wherever you are. Overall, the JB Hi-Fi NOW mobile app was designed to expand on the JB Hi-Fi NOW online music service, providing the same unprecedented music service from the convenience of your mobile device. We continue to improve the application through various updates, improving the way users can manage their listening experience. By allowing people to listen to their music the way they want, where they want, JB Hi-Fi and Visual Jazz continue to revolutionise the way Australians can enjoy listening to music.
