After some strong competition from a local brand, New Zealanders had fallen out of love with Cadbury. To remedy this they asked us to create a campaign that Kiwis couldn’t help but love. We wanted to remind New Zealanders what chocolate is all about - Joy. Because joy means different things to different people we decided to conduct a year long experiment to capture as many different interpretations of joy as we could, with the aim of making a Glass and a Half production from the sounds of New Zealand’s joy. We held events up and down the country designed to evoke joy then recorded every moment. We combined these videos with others that were uploaded to our website and vocals recorded by the public, in a stereoscopic recording studio. Once we had all the sounds we needed we enlisted the help of ten times Grammy winner Bobby McFerrin to turn them into a piece of music.
