Bayan-Anihan, which means "community harvest," believes that in order to solve the problem of hunger in the Philippines, we must empower the poor to produce their own food with their own able hands through planting their own vegetable and root crops. We were tasked to further the awareness of Bayan-Anihan’s goals, and increase support from people. With a limited budget, the challenge was to create a piece of work that will make our message immediate, involving (effective), and placed at the right venue. To communicate the message of planting the food you eat, we used the basic tools in planting and harvesting — a spade and trowel — and fashioned them to look like a spoon and fork. To drive the message home, we replaced spoons and forks with spades and trowels in local popular restaurants, grabbing immediate attention from patrons.
