People Ignore banners. They are only interested in the content on the page. So our idea was to use the content to divert their attention towards our banner. To do this we put a writer in charge of tweaking the news headlines real time as it was appearing on the page. All the news guided people to the banner in a subliminal way, and hopefully made them hungry too.
