"Of all the earthquakes of magnitude 6 or higher that occur worldwide, 20.8% occur in Japan. Japan is also prone to disasters such as typhoons, heavy rains, floods, landslides, and volcanic eruptions, making it a disaster-prone country, and solving issues related to disasters is a topic of great importance and public interest."
We opened a restaurant serving "LIFE PLATE" in a mountain lodge in Mount Norikura, Nagano, with no electricity, gas or water infrastructure. We provided visitors the experience of tasting new emergency food in the environment similar to the one during a disaster. The project drew a lot of attention as "an effort to overturn the common image of food in times of disaster". In December 2021, the second "LIFE PLATE" restaurant was opened in Ariake Garden Plaza, one of the largest disaster prevention centers in Tokyo.
