The theme of the work is viewing life and death in the cycle of rebirth on the Okinawan island of Kudakajima (based on Niraikanai beliefs of the Amami Islands). Beginning with “Mogaribune”, a song expressing the time from life to burial, there is then an interlude representing the time from burial to the afterlife. Next is the song “Higashi”, when we arrive at the cycle of rebirth’s eastern sky.
