Nissan Z Escape was created to launch the seventh generation of Nissan Z in North America. Given that the Coronavirus pandemic inhibited a large-scale unveiling of the new Nissan model, the virtual launch was accompanied by two films that demonstrated the vehicle’s capabilities; both on the suburban and urban streets.

As no car was available for engine-recording purposes, the challenge was to create all sound design from scratch for the U.S. launch of the seventh generation Nissan Z. The approach was to bring to life the two personalities in the Nissan Z Escape spot; a car that you can drive to the shops, or on the race track. Softer sounds were used during the slower suburban scenes with the yellow car, to make it feel more sophisticated. But at the same time, playing Lindsay Jehan’s music underneath invokes an edginess that is telling you – there’s more than meets the eye. With the blue car, there were harsher, more aggressive engine sounds; cinematic impacts and fast cuts that let you know just how intense this car can be.
