Our film introduces five different, but easily relatable everyday situations. Mother worrying about her son who has moved away to study. A couple having trouble apologizing to each other after a fight. Daughter carrying about her father working late. Teenagers too naive to express their feelings for one another. Old time friends that haven’t met in a while running into each other. There is one thing in common in these situations. We use the expression ‘Bab’(meal). The mother shows she worry about her son by wondering if he had 'bab'. Teenagers show their feelings for each other by asking of having 'bab' together. Bab represents the care and affection we have for each other. Shooting stars flying over the city are actually babs, which shows that you can send your emotions to each other by sending bab on the new Baemin Gift
The word 'bab' literally can translate into rice or meal. However in Korean culture the word bab has a much deeper connotation and is used in many different ways. For example, we would express our care and love towards another by asking if they had eaten 'bab'. We would express our apology by saying 'I will buy bab'. Like these examples we use the word bab to express many different emotions for each other. In the Korean market, sending gifts online was on the rise but majority of these gifts were mindless ordinary gifts such as coffee or desert coupons. So as Baemin, an online food ordering platform, launches the new Baemin Gift service, we wanted to show that our gifts have a complete different meaning. The meal gifts sent through the Baemin Gift carries the same connotation as the word bab has. Baemin Gift carries care and affection.
The key to our film was the music. It was the music's role to maximize the characters emotions and conduct it to the audience. It was important to find a music that was not too sad but not too exciting. Everyone in the team spent many hours listening to many different music. And after this long search we were able to find the perfect music. Our music, titled 'Love Ya' is a song by a popular indie band 'Hyuk Oh'. The song has a serene melody. The vocalist Oh Hyuk's ethereal voice combined with the lyrics of loving someone, was a perfect match for our film. As the shooting 'bab's soar over the sky, the song's chorus with lyrics 'I Love Ya' comes on. This was the most popular scene that made many people tear up. Our music was a huge contribution to the success of our campaign.
