From Sindh, comes the story of a valiant girl Nazo who represents the courageous and incredibly resilient women from rural Pakistan. Nazo stands up for her right to inheritance, fights off land grabbers in broad daylight and protects her family from becoming homeless in this short film based on a true story. She has not only been taught by her father to handle guns but has love for her land ingrained in her; her values resonate with countless rural women serving their families around Pakistan.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

For farmers, land is like their mother and they will never abandon it no matter what the cost. This true story revolves around this fundamental insight. Add to this the feminine nature of female farmer and her protective instincts in guarding her home. The media landscape however misses key insights of empowered females and continues to show weak and oppressed women especially when it comes to portraying the rural side of Pakistan. This is NOT true at all and the opposite is in fact true that female in rural Pakistan are far more empowered than their urban counterparts without of course betraying their gender roles.
