Situation: The Urban Planning, Land & Resources Commission of Shenzhen Municipality and Time + Architecture Journal jointly published the book "Contemporary Architecture in Shenzhen", including 45 representative buildings in Shenzhen and 27 academic articles on Shenzhen as a city and its architecture. Objectives: Complete the design of "Contemporary Architecture in Shenzhen" from the five perspectives of text, works, icons, statistics and architecture, present a global urban planning and architectural research to the public.
As the undertaker of book editing, design, and promotion, we focused on the book itself, restore the essence of the information, and construct the "urban architecture research archive" with the design language. We put forward the concept of "architectural text," transforming text into architectural elements, as a basic element of design, forming an architectural code to complete the construction of the entire book. Design elements are like architectural spaces. The more elements, the higher the building. Different chapters in the book tell different architecture works. Naturally grow and form different architectural styles.
As editor, designer and promoter of the book, we pay close attention to the book itself, restore the essence of the information and construct the “archives of urban architecture research" in the language of design. From the perspectives of text, work, icon, statistics and architecture, a research of overall urban planning and architecture is presented to the public. Text Element: We propose the concept of "architecture text" which is to transform the text into architectural elements as the basic elements of design and form an architecture code to complete construction of the entire book. Work Element: In the “Interview with International Master Architects" module of the book, we use the common "sticky notes" to display the quotes of master architects at home and abroad, showing the fragments of architectural designers’ daily work. Icon Element: We design icons for and number the 45 architectural works included to create an exclusive.
From the five perspectives of text, work, icons, statistics, and architecture, present a global urban planning and architectural research to the public.Completed the client's book design commission. At present, this publication has been republished many times and is well received in the industry. Through the publication of this book, we presented to the public research on overall urban planning and architecture.
