Write a short summary of what happens in the film

The Unspeakable Love tells a story about a young man called Shao Feng recalls his deceased mother. At the beginning, Shao Feng saw a kid begging his mother to buy him a mixed congee from the vending machine, just like he did to his mother when he was a child. His memories with his mother from the old days start to appear in his mind. His mother never said “I love you” to him, she always does things against his will like forcing him to eat dinner or being angry when he’s injured. However, after all these years, Shao Feng now understands that although his mother never conveyed her true feelings, she actually cares about him very much. By eating the mixed congee, he recalls all the good memories with his mother. He felt a little regret and hope he can have the opportunity to tell his mother ”I love

Cultural/Context information for the jury

“JIA-BA-WEI” (Have you eaten?) a sentence with the most simple and richest love. In Chinese culture, people tend to hide their feelings to family members. There are always some camouflages, some insincerely speech and some awkwardness. Usually, it takes them a very long period of time to realize those routines in daily life and trifles they take it for granted are actually the representation of love. In Taiwan, “JIA-BA-WEI” is not merely just a greeting to know if you have eaten or not, there are other implications such as worry, concern and numerous emotions cannot express by words. It is an enduring sentence full of compassion and kindness. Behind this sentence, there are still lots of feelings can express and stories can tell.
