This film was shot through candid cameras at a McDonald's in Hyderabad. It was shot on the 11th of April 2019, the first day of the month long Indian elections. And Hyderabad was the first city to go to vote. It seems like just another day at the outlet. Just that the usually efficient McDonald's servers are getting orders wrong. In some cases they're even insisting that the customers take their choice. We see people getting frustrated. Some get worked up. Some argue. And then finally the message is revealed - "You lose your right to choose, when you don’t vote. #MakeYourChoice"
McDonald's is a go-to-food destination for urban Indians, especially on holidays. In 2014 , 1 out of 3 urban Indians didn’t vote, so a high chances that many of our 119 million visitors didn’t vote as well. Instead, they chose to spend those hours in our restaurant on the day of election. While many brands & influencers have tried to encourage voting; they end up being preachy and not thought-provoking. If they’re hanging out at McDonald’s instead of going to vote, we felt it was our responsibility to make our customers recognise theirs’. But we wanted a message that didn’t just move our customers; it needed to move anyone and everyone who was considering giving up his vote. So the act needed to have high shareability.
