"This is the key climactic scene from the animated film “Your Name.” In Japan, as the sun is setting and the world is bathed in light, we no longer identify the moment as day or night; human silhouettes are muted and it is difficult to recognize the person in front of you. This is considered the twilight hour—a time in this story when the stranger before your eyes turns out to be the person you most wanted to meet. The climactic scene occurs as the two characters unite across the span of three years. That mysterious light provides the key to their ability to find each other— in the movie and in the newspaper ad. We exploited the thin material unique to newspapers, creating a dramatic union of the protagonists as light is cast upon the paper, bringing the images on the front and back sides into view.
I wanted to tell you…Wherever you are in the world, I swear I’ll find you. 9pm tonight on Asahi TV. Story continues on full-page ad. Story continues inside. Hold up to light with this side facing you. Hold up to light with opposite side facing you.
