“Good Night Paola” is a scientific metaphor around the stages of sleep and their implications to our bodies and minds. Clearly, a well-balanced sleep cycle and our ability to reach the dream state has an impact in both our physical and mental health. The short film's narrative is based on the 4 stages of sleep, each representing a chapter in Paola’s breathtaking come-back story. Antonini, who lost her leg in a car accident in 2014, relives her own story for the first time, through nightmarish moments on her path to fulfilling her dream.

The director sets the scene for Paola's story through a dreamlike narrative in 4 acts, each representing a sleep stage. Both set and cinematography can't be too realistic. Her journey towards her dream of becoming a model is centered on a stylized fashion runway, where red and blue tones alternate moments of heat and cool. 1st stage - Bed flips to vertical, Paola floats effortlessly (with dolly). - Runway was designed to reproduce the tension and heat in her career. - Accident scene: car crashes on runway, changing her life forever. 2nd stage - Hospital, backstage and Paola’s bedroom merge in one space. 3rd stage - Empty backstage with dummy parts scattered around dramatize her struggle. 4th - When the film reaches its climax, the camera surprises the audience with real footage from Paola’s past, linking her dream with reality. - Paola floats seamlessly back into her bed on a sling.
