The film starts with fluid shots of different people drinking from a bottle of Coke, along with a question we pose to viewers: "What's life for a plastic bottle, beyond refreshing you?" The spot then deep dives into the wonderful transformations of plastic that happens at Coca-Cola Philippines: bottles turning into tiles, a bench, a T-shirt, and finally reborn as the Viva! bottle. At the end of the spot, we reemphasise the role of Viva, and how every bottle reborn takes us one step closer to a World Without Waste.
Viva! is Coca-Cola Philippines' first ever bottle made of 100% recycled material.
We used 2D hand-drawn animation to represent the fluid transitions of plastic, changing forms from bottle, to tiles, to bench, to T-shirt. The project was initially a challenge, as the only asset we had to work with was a product shot. We had no real insight into the making of the bottle, the scale of its production and so on. All we knew was that Viva! now comes in bottles that are 100% recycled, and 100% recyclable. With this information, we needed to come up with a simple yet exciting way to launch. Furthermore, the budget allocated for this spot was less than 5000 USD. With this money, we were able to accomplish everything from illustration, to animation, to voice recording and sound design.
