KABUKI-ZA / 1st Anniversary after renovation and reopen of KABUKI-ZA Theatre We paid attention to ‘Nebuta Festival’ which is so called as KABUKI in our daily life, created a premium light incorporating an original art technique of ‘Nebuta’ with a face of character in KABUKI to set a cultural light in our daily lives.
For over one century, "Shochiku KABUKI-ZA" was supported by not only "performance succession" but also by various "technology of craftsmanship of Japan" and "our Love of KABUKI". For the 1st anniversary of the KABUKI-ZA opening in 2013, we challenged "performers", "craftsmans" and "audiences " all their love to KABUKI to set to one, and expose new light to the culture of KABUKI of the day.
This KABUKI FACE LIGHT was designed based on the Kabuki actor’s make-up. The make-up keeps changing because it has very unique role to express out his emotion, and this is popular among KABUKI fans.
As a result, it was taken up by various media and not only the conventional fan but appealed KABUKI in a youth generation as art of Japan and culture to those who showed no interest in their traditional culture of KABUKI.
