Brief Explanation

We are making a storybook for the blind and the seeing eyes thus the challenge is to design a font and illustration, which they can both perceive equally without a sense of separation. The key objective is to make it possible for them to read together.

The Brief

Visually impaired kids may feel lesser to those who are fully sighted because they can’t read the same book. The brief from “Pasarnmitr”, a school-book publisher, who believes that books help kids see, is to design a book that they can both enjoy the same level of reading experience in order to unite the separate worlds.

How the final design was conceived

We combined English alphabets with Braille letters. As a result, we developed a font that can be read by both seeing and unseeing eyes. In addition, we embossed an image in every character illustration so every type of reader could "see" both words and imagery together.

Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market

We first launched it with a story book then implemented to other media which include signage and posters. This project has promoted the equality of people. Kids are different, but with this book, they see the same world.
