The challenge was to transform 'boring' exercising into something entertaining. The objective was to provide users totally new exercising experience. Users can enjoy a 40-minute spinning exercise in a room where music, light installation built with 350 LEDs, and a 2.5m radius fan are synchronized to the pedaling motions. Instead of instructors, built-in iPads on bikes give users effective instructions by showing an animation themed to resort towns around the world. Users can save the workout data and check on the Internet. This system works as a ramification platform, allowing users to communicate by sharing, encouraging, and emulating their data.
Have you ever felt bored when you are running on a treadmill or riding on a bike machine in a room surrounded by walls? This was what we wanted to change. We wanted to change the general mindset that exercising is 'boring', by adding extra entertainment to it.
This project is a new content which was designed for an exercising entertainment, "COG." "COG" is an exercising program which users can enjoy a 40-minute spinning exercise with music, light installation built with 350 LEDs, and a 2.5m radius fan, all synchronized to the pedaling. Instead of the instructors, a built-in iPad on each bike gives you effective instructions by showing an animation that is themed to the towns around the world. KANJI CITY is an intermediate program for "COG" which is designed with original images of Kyoto. Kyoto has tradition, culture, and grand nature. All landscape is expressed in Kanji typeface.
During the first 4 months since the opening, 1,000 people have enjoyed the COG, and 750 people became actual constant users.
