Independence Day was identified as a strong opportunity for Mawbima, a national newspaper, to reconnect with its traditional working-class audience. But instead of looking at what we could do in the paper, we looked at what we could do with the paper and devised a simple solution: make it possible for readers to turn their national newspaper into a national flag. This was done by printing the flag on both sides of the back page and then adding some simple instructions. Readers were now able to express themselves using their Mawbima newspaper.
