Only the best concept art would make it as a RS India Cover; a piece which seamlessly reflects not only the ethos of a magazine that has meant ‘music’ to generations of music lovers but also its unique understanding of India’s cultural landscape.

The Brief

Rolling Stone India was coming out with a celebratory Third Anniversary edition. They sent out an open brief to the finest designers and art directors across the country to make a Concept Cover, which captures the soul of the iconic magazine and the spirit of India, the country.

How the final design was conceived

It is the 3rd anniversary of Rolling Stone and it is a riot out there. The design attempts to capture the essence of this celebration of music. It's a veritable explosion of people and things in a state of absolute exhilaration. People dancing and rejoicing; joined in equal measure by stars and hearts. In the middle of all of this is a 'heart burst' of Indian motifs; very much a part of the celebrations. The words "HAPPY BIRTHDAY ROLLING STONE" are engraved as a part of this collage of celebration. Indication of how successful the outcome was in the market
