Background There has been an alarming increase on obesity from 6.9% in 2004 to 11% in 2010. HPB has an immediate task by launching a national campaign to raise awareness on maintaining healthy weight and encourages Singaporeans to stand together and take action. Insight Overall, healthy living through diet and exercise is something that is done from time to time and often half-heartedly. Most people know they should do something but lack the inclination and commitment to do it. It is not seen as achievable or essential for most. Research has also revealed that most people are more motivated to eat healthily and exercise more if they have the support and accompaniment of their family and/or friends. 2 key objectives 1. Empower the public to take ownership of their health 2. Educate the public on the importance of maintaining a healthy weight via regular physical activity and a healthy diet
