Results and Effectiveness

Creative Execution

Beautiful ethnic clothes from around the world, Africa, Asia, Europe, Arab, America, represents the pure culture of that region. But sadly 30 million of them are forced to become refugees. To support the refugees miniature Avatar clothes from these regions were specially made. The Avatar users learned about refugee problems by purchasing UNHCR Avatar clothes. The total sales was counted by the actual relief supplies, water buckets, mattresses and nutrients used by UNHCR. Allowing the participants to understand more about refugee problems and UNHCR as they decorated their Avatars. Also these items could be sent as a present to friends by SNS spreading the project widely. The participants coordinated the ethnic clothes in their own way entering a special fashion show. Peace Avatar Project created an interesting and easy participating donation campaign.

Insights, Strategy and the Idea

Natural disasters, world politics and religion are forcing many refugees to live outside their home all over the world. More than 30,000,000 refugees need the aid from UNHCR to live. Make the young Japanese generation understand the refugee prblems around the world and participate in the UNHCR activity. The young Japanese generation are ignorant of refugee problems, or about UNHCR. But we were sure that if they knew they would have the urge to take positive action. Actually, we solicited donations for tree planting organization, there is a very high response from users Hangame in 2009. So we focused on the "Avatar". Avatars are very popular among the Japanese SNS users especially the young generation as a personal expression in HANGAME. Decorate your Avatar with traditional ethnic clothes sponsered by UNHCR. The proceeds will be donated to UNHCR. This is "Peace Avatar Project".
