We were challenged to create something made solely from push pins on an agency wall. We had to come up with an idea, source the pins, and find a way to complete the assignment within 4 weeks.
The brief was to learn about the craft and persistence needed to create great work.
The idea was to create a giant Mexican Sugar Skull, which is a symbolic gift for the living and the dead during the Latin American holiday, El Dia de los Muertos (the Day of the Dead). The unique design was inspired and transposed from a variety of Sugar Skulls. It was made as a gift to those that occupy Leo Burnett Sydney and to the founder of the agency, Leo Burnett himself.
The challenge resulted in 65,230 hand placed pushpins. The result now stands as a mural for the agency, and as an example of the level of care and patience we have for our work.
